Branching Out Wood

Custom Metal Legs

A few years back, I needed to outsourced several welding jobs in quick succession, both for personal projects and as part of commissioned pieces. The price tag for custom welded work was astronomical, and so I decided to bring that capability in house. Alongside my husband, I took several classes at Oakland’s The Crucible, and I added a small welding and forming station to my workshop that allows me to do MIG & TIG welding, plasma cutting, bending of plates & bar stock, and ring and bead rolling.

I’ll confess, this also allowed me to scratch two itches: welding was something I had wanted to learn for a while, and I can rarely refuse an excuse to add more equipment to my workshop.

While my metal capabilities and skills are not as advanced as my woodworking, I can now easily build custom media console or coffee table legs with cold roll or hot roll steel, and - with a powder coating shop nearby - I can finish to any color to match your decor.

If you have a project that has a metal component - or if you need something small cut or welded - feel free to reach out!
